Good Morning:
The Wreaths Across America Houston project has our scheduled pick-up date scheduled for Saturday, January 31st at the Houston National Cemetery. The event is open to anyone that would like to help in removing the wreaths from the grounds. The amount of time it will take will depend on how many volunteers are in attendance that day.
There is no ceremony or formality to the removal. We will be meeting at the Hemi-Cycle in the middle of the cemetery at 9:00 am for a quick briefing. We will have 3 trucks running in rotation between the drop off location and the cemetery until all the wreaths are removed. Wreaths will be brought to the street and then loaded on the trucks as they come by until each is full. The trucks will then be driven to the recycling center and emptied and then the process will continue. Please bring a rake, shovel, broom, or other long handled tool. With a long handled tool one person can carry about 20 wreaths instead of 5 or 6 by hand.
