As promised - more details on the upcoming meetup. Many nonprofits (and for profits) may find the transition from strategy to action a challenge. This evening's presentation will demonstrate a process of taking a strategic goal to an operations plan that has actionable goals and tactics. The Colored Pencil Project has volunteered to present a strategic goal. They will be coached through a process that will take that goal and create tactics and objectives to enable them to make it happen. You are all invited to be participants in this process and to learn how to do this in your own organizations. I look forward to seeing you all on the 27th! ~Monique

This is going to be a fun, interactive evening where facilitator (and your organizer) Monique Morimoto Flaherty will be doing a live coaching demo with The Colored Pencil Project. These women have graciously agreed to bring an organizational concern to the table and be coached around it. As participants you will learn a process for taking a complex situation and simplifying it, contribute to this organization's solution and have fun. More details to follow! See you there!

In this session Rick Blain, a Certified Fund Raising Executive will lead us through a review of giving trends over the past 40 years, and discuss what makes this year different. We will explore what motivates people to give and discuss successful strategies to secure essential support today, while appropriately positioning our organizations to take advantage of the better times that are to come. I'm excited to be hosting Rick who is Principal of Richard R. Blain & Associates, LLC located in North Andover, as our guest speaker. Rick has almost thirty years of professional experience, including approximately twenty five years as a consultant to not-for-profit institutions and organizations of various types and sizes. Rick currently serves on a number of not-for-profit Boards including the North Andover Scholarship Foundation, Family Service, Exchange Club of Lawrence, and the Essex County Community Foundation Grants Management Committee. I'm looking forward to seeing you there! Invite your development directors and E.D.'s, too! Monique

A vision is a mental picture of something that you want. An individual can have a vision of their ideal job; an organization can have a vision of the future they want to create. A compelling vision is one that is clear, exciting, and inspiring. For an individual, it is strong enough to pull us out of our comfort zones and get us into action. For an organization, a compelling vision is one that inspires the staff to fully commit themselves to the organization’s mission. A compelling vision tells you where you want to get to. When you set goals and act without a compelling vision, you may be in motion but you can’t be sure where you are going to end up. It gives you the energy and inspiration to move past whatever blocks arise in the process. At our February meetup, coaches Monique Morimoto Flaherty and Ted Behr will talk with us about just what does make a vision compelling and will lead us in a process of discovering our own compelling vision, whether it is for our organization or for ourselves. 1. Introductions: (15 mins) 2. Roundtable Discussion: (60 mins) 4. Announcements, opportunities, connections (10 mins) 5.. Exchange business cards/social networking. (15 mins)
